MY DOLLS AT CHRISTMAS

Many years before I started making porcelain dolls or even thought about doing such a thing, I made this rag doll for my daughter for Christmas one year. She named the doll Mary. She has kept Mary all these years.

Not long after I made this doll Christmas was approaching so I decided to make her a Christmas outfit. That was when I decorated with green and red at Christmas time.

Here's the same doll by our Christmas tree in more recent years. This was probably about 15 years ago.

And here is another little doll I used one year as part of the Christmas theme.

Thank you for visiting my doll blog and letting me share some of my Christmas photos with you.

PAGE IN MY BOOK

I recently composed and had a book published online. The book started out with pictures of our travels to other countries but since I still had some allotted pages to fill I decided to put some pictures of my dolls in the back. This was the introductory page to the "doll section." I'll show some of the other pages later. I hope I don't wait as long as I did since the last post. LOL

A COLLAGE

I'm excited about this new free program that I just downloaded for making collages. It was really easy to do and making the above collage using all the pictures in my doll file only took a couple of minutes. I couldn't believe it. Here is the website if you would like to check it out. I definitely recommend it.

MY JEANNIE WALKER DOLL

This is my Madame Alexander doll. No, of course I didn't make this one. I got this doll for Christmas back in 1942 when I was just 6 years old. I'm kind of amazed that I still have her and in such good condition with her original dress on. Maybe it's partly because I didn't play with her as much as I did with some of my other dolls. I preferred baby dolls and they're the ones I played with the most.
Here's a photo of me when I first got the doll. That's my cousin Jerry in the picture with me. I'm so glad I have this picture. I've always thought it was so funny. I know, I blogged about this once before, but it was on my other blog so thought I'd post it here on the doll blog. Thanks for visiting me here.
No -- wait -- I did blog about this already on this blog as well. I must be getting old. LOL
Here is what I said about it before if you're interested. Actually it is one of the first posts I did on this blog.

DOLLS IN OUR NEW BOOK

On my Charlotte's Weblog blog, I posted about Our Travel Book, a book I compiled and had printed online. At the back of the book are photos of my dolls. I thought I would share some of them here on my Doll blog. These are the only two photos I've taken of the doll section of the book. I'll probably share more pages later.

DOLLS FOR PINK SATURDAY

These are the photos I posted on my Charlotte's Weblog blog for Pink Saturday. The clown doll is the one I originally took the doll class to make. I intended to just make that one, but since the teacher recommended making two at once of course I made two. The rest is history. I got hooked.

MY FAVORITE DOLL

This is my favorite doll of all the dolls I made. I wrote a post about her before, but I was playing around with some of the programs on my computer and came up with this "enhanced" photo of her. I took this picture in our backyard when we lived in California. I "antiqued" it and threw in the angel for interest. This doll has a leather body stuffed with very fine sawdust. Someday I'll have to undress her and post a picture. She really does have a pretty body.

A CUTE PAPER DOLL

I found this cute little paper doll over The Fairy's Gate as I was looking around at different blogs. You can click here to find lots more clothes for this little cutie. You may want to check it out for your daughter or granddaughter. I'm sure you could enlarge them, print them, and the little girls could have a ball. It reminded me of the days when I loved loved loved to play paper dolls. I had forgotten about it, but today I remembered that as a child I loved making clothes for paper dolls, out of paper, of course.

BLUE MONDAY

Since I haven't posted anything here on my doll blog in awhile, I decided to do Blue Monday here this week. So what does this blue crocheted dress have to do with dolls? It has been hanging on the wall in my doll room for over 19 years. And besides, way back in the 40s when my mother crocheted it for me, I was playing with dolls. So, you see, there is a connection.
Here is a picture of me wearing the dress. I know. It looks white in the picture, but trust me, it was just as blue then as it is now. I'm amazed it hasn't faded, but I don't think it has. Seems like it has always been this shade of blue.

I did a post about this dress about a year ago, but that was before Blue Monday, so I decided to post it again. There is more to the story but I won't retell it all here. In case you are curious, you can click here for the "rest of the story".

Of course Smiling Sally is our gracious hostess for Blue Monday. You can click here to to her blog for more Blue Monday links.

BYE BYE DOLLY
